Year 7-9 Maths
My Primary Focus
-
Build a great foundation of mental maths which is crucial for Maths in GCSE and beyond.
-
Following the National Curriculum to ensure every child is at the expected level or higher for their year group.
-
Keep the lessons fun as I want to make sure all children genuinely find the lessons enjoyable.
Experience in this area
-
In the past 5 years, I have taught a large number of children between the ages of 11 and 14 in Oxford, London and Online; seeing many differences in terms of ability, confidence, interests and needs.
-
Some children have been behind in class and I helped them catch up and develop more confidence with Maths.
-
Some children have just had a few weak areas, e.g mental maths, times tables. After we worked on those they rose to the top of their class.
-
Some children have been way ahead of their year group and aren't being pushed in class. I teach these children much harder Maths that will interest them and make later years easier.
Different Approaches for those ...
Struggling with Maths
-
My main aim is to catch up with the expected level for their year group by building a solid foundation of mental maths and ensuring every topic is understood.
-
If low confidence in Maths and disliking Maths are issues too, then I would really like to work on those as well. Generally by keeping the learning process fun and giving a lot of positive feedback and encouragement.
With a few weak topics
-
My main aims are to clear up any weak areas of Maths, help your child to become more confident and comfortable with Maths and rise to the top of their class.

Excelling in Maths
-
My main aim is to keep pushing your child's interest and understanding in Maths and improving problem solving skills.
-
I would also be able to help with taking early GCSE exams.
